Transferring a Domain vs. Changing Name Servers

When you sign up for hosting with NCwebservice, if you have an existing domain, you will need to configure your domain name to work with your new hosting account by setting the name servers at your registrar. You can also optionally transfer your domain to NCwebservice so that both your domain name and web hosting are managed in the same place.

Since domain name registration is considered a separate service than web hosting, it is not required to register or transfer your domain to NCwebservice to use our hosting or web services.

Your options include:

Option 1: Changing Your Name Servers at Existing Registrar

You can leave the domain registered where it is now, and change the name servers to point to NCwebservice. This would make it so that NCwebservice servers manage your DNS and you can make DNS changes directly in your hosting control panel. Since you are using our name servers, when you add domains, subdomains or make other domain-related changes, it automatically updates your DNS records to reflect the change.

How do I change my DNS or name servers?

If you did NOT purchase your domain from us, we are not able to change the name servers because we don't control the domain. Please contact the place where you bought the domain and ask how to make the name server updates. Most domain registrars have a tool so you can do this yourself. Then you will remove the current name servers and replace them with the name servers from your welcome email.

Making The Changes

Every registrar has a different procedure for changing your domains DNS, however they are all done basically the same way. The welcome email you received from us provides you with the name servers you need to change your domain to. You will then take those name servers to wherever you bought your domain, and fill them in for your domain name.

Your name servers should look something like...

ns1.ncwebservice.com
ns2.ncwebservice.com
(do not use the above unless told so in your welcome email)

Option 2: Transferring Your Domain to NCwebservice

Another option is transferring your domain to NCwebservice, and use NCwebservice name servers to manage your DNS. This would make it so that your can manage your domain through NCwebservice, so that your domain and hosting is in one place.
